2018 BBWAA Awards Dinner
Who now has the strength to stand against the armies of Isengard AND Mordor?”

Newsday | Laura Albanese: Good morning, Yankee fans. It’s “Giancarlo Stanton is a New York Yankee” o’clock on Pinstripe Alley. Stanton was at the BBWAA awards dinner in Manhattan to accept his NL MVP award and hey isn’t it pretty cool that the NL MVP winner is now on the Yankees? His former teammate and friend, Jose Fernandez, felt that the both of them could one day be Yankees.

“He said, ‘If this doesn’t work out down here, I’m going to be a free agent and I’m going to be with the Yankees, and I’m taking you with me,’ ” Stanton recalled Sunday, accepting his MVP award at the Baseball Writers’ Association of America awards dinner in midtown Manhattan. “Now that I’m here, I’m going to take a little piece of him and bring it with me.”

R.I.P. Jose Fernandez. You are still greatly missed. Click the link for more information on the night. It’s a good read.

New York Daily News | Eric Barrow: After the dinner came the after-party. Best friends Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton decided to do best friend things and hit up the Limelight afterwards. Oh, that club is not around anymore? Damn I’m old. It was actually at Marquee New York and they looked pretty spiffy. Soon our photo editor will be filled with more Judge and Stanton photos and we’ll all be better with them in our life.

MLB.com | Manny Randhawa: In actual roster news, the Yankees made a huge move yesterday. Danny Espinosa has agreed to a minor-league contract, complete with a spring training invite. Espinosa will most likely be competing for a job at second base. He will have some strong competition there this year though. Either way, the hot stove is as lit as it’s ever been.

New York Daily News | Mike Mazzeo: CC Sabathia said last week that he’s glad the Yankees are back to being that “hated team.” Yesterday, he clarified that on MLB Network with new ESPN Sunday Night Baseball broadcaster Matt Vasgersian.

He also recently won the Good Guy award and wore an amazing green suit.

Stylin’ and profilin’ as a wise man would call it.
