MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: My past two link dumps have had Gleyber Torres as the primary photo. As you can obviously see, today is no different. In their continuing ranking of the best prospects in baseball at each position, Gleyber came in at #1 as a shortstop. While it is unlikely Gleyber starts the season at SS over Sir Didi Gregorius, it’s still pretty encouraging to see him ranked that high. Some would say that Gleyber is good. I know I would.
Newsday | Casey Musarra: The Hall of Fame class of 2018 was revealed yesterday. Chipper Jones, Jim Thome, Vladimir Guerrero, and Trevor Hoffman will be enshrined in Cooperstown later this year. This article shows how each member fared against the New York teams. The Yankees saw a lot of Thome and Vlad. Yankee fans will likely remember Trevor Hoffman vs. Scott Brosius from Game 3 of the 1998 World Series. Happy 20th Anniversary to this epic Scott Brosius dinger.
MLB.com | Oliver Macklin: The saga of Yu Darvish may soon be coming to an end this offseason. Jon Morosi reports that it is “increasingly likely” that Yu will make a decision by the end of this week. The Minnesota Twins are engaging in ongoing discussions with Yu. The Milwaukee Brewers have supposedly made an offer to Darvish as well. We shall soon see where Yu winds up. Maybe. Who knows, really.
Cut4 | Chris Landers: Never has a more fierce battle been fought in the state of New Jersey than the Taylor Ham vs. Pork Roll war. The Double-A Trenton Thunder have made it abundantly clear where they stand on the matter, as evident by their 25th Anniversary celebration. Every Friday night, the Thunder will be known as the Trenton Pork Roll. This will include jerseys, hats, and even a Pork Roll Mascot to officially make it the most southern Jersey thing possible. $1 Pork Roll Sandwiches will be available on May 18th. The term Pork Roll has never been used by a writer on this site more than in this one paragraph.
Cut4 | Eric Chesterton: On Tuesday night, Alex Rodriguez appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. On the show, A-Rod faced off against Asher Willig, a 22-month-old child who has a mighty swing. The aging superstar made like the Dread Pirate Roberts and went left-handed to face the youngster. Even though A-Rod lost, there were still high fives to go around at the end.
