Yankees still "developing"...

The core of this Yankee team is still young with significant room to grow to reach its true level of excellence. The biggest flaw I see is a highly touted heart of the batting order (Stanton &Judge) likely to produce 400+ strikeouts between them. That's just way too much and I don't care what the Sabremetrics geeks say!

I refer you to the Astros of two years ago, crammed full of young, athletic studs who hit the ball a mile and struck out way too much and missed the playoffs. Last season, the coaching finally kicked in...they cut their strikeouts in half, put pitched balls in play consistently and now will get their World Champion rings in April.

It's called "situational hitting" , it's been a core value of baseball since the 19th Century when they threw underhand, hasn't been a measurable quality of Yankee teams for a long time and is something that is more important to long term success than hitting 600 homers in 2018. Homers are nice, but putting the ball in play consistently with two strikes is more important and, as noted, not yet a team quality.
