Who would have thought that a late season series with Minnesota would be so important? The same Twins who sold at the deadline now sit in the second Wild Card spot. Go figure. Tonight Ervin Santana looks to hold the Yankees' offense at bay. The right-hander has been rock solid all year, posting a 3.35 ERA over 193.2 innings. His peripherals are lackluster, including a lofty 1.35 HR/9, so let's hope the bats can square him up.
Jaime Garcia gets the start for the Yankees. In a funny turn of events, he came over to the Bombers by way of the Twins. Here's hoping he can bury his former team. As for Garcia's numbers, well, they're aren't pretty. He owns a 4.60 ERA with a 5.47 FIP for New York. His last start represented an improvement, so maybe he'll turn the corner and go on a tear. We can dream, right?
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. You can watch locally on YES or nationally on the MLB Network.
