The Yankees snapped their short losing streak yesterday, cruising to a fun 6-2 win over the Boston Red Sox. The game had a little bit of everything; long home runs, great pitching and a little bit of luck. The Bronx Bombers will need that all again tonight in game two of this four-game series.
Sonny Gray takes the mound, facing the Sox at Yankee Stadium for the first time. The high school sophomore is on a roll lately, having not given up more than two earned runs in a start since June 20th against the Astros.
Opposing Gray is Doug Fister. The Sox most recent reclamation project, Fister has had a rough go of it in 2017, with a career high in walk rate and the highest HR/FB% of his career. Hopefully the Yankees can take advantage of that with another big offensive night.
Matt Holliday is back on the big-league team after being reinstated from the DL today, but is not in the starting lineup. Chase Headley assumes the DH role.
Catch first pitch at 7:05pm EDT on YES and WFAN.
