The Yankees were firing on a cylinders last night against the Tigers, scoring in double digits for the first time since August 9th. That kind of offensive fire power is something we saw a lot of in the first half and have seen less of since the All-Star break. New York's pitching, while overshadowed by the offensive outburst, was also terrific.
With a chance to win the series, the Yankees send Luis Severino to the mound. They have to feel pretty good about that. Severino has had an incredible season as the team's best pitcher. Hopefully his offense is ready to pick up where they left off last night in support of him. Opposite Severino on the mound will be Jordan Zimmermann, who got lit up his last two times out. Time for the Yankees to take advantage of that and make it three in a row.
