Associated Press via USA Today: Ding dong the streak is dead! In case you’ve been under a rock for the last month and a half, Aaron Judge broke an MLB record and struckout in 37 consecutive games. Well the streak is finally over. Yesterday Judge walked three times and singled in his four plate appearances before being replaced by Jacoby Ellsbury. Hooray! Now we to find another insignificant thing for people to complain about.
NJ.com | Randy Miller: August Kraken has been unleashed again. Gary Sanchez hit a home run 493 feet! It was the second-longest home run of the year. The longest, of course, belongs to Aaron Judge and his 495 foot dong. If you missed Sanchez’s home run, this link has the video to it. Prepare to be amazed. I’m so happy August Gary is back.
New York Post | George A. King III: No one expected Ronald Torreyes to play as much as he has this year, not even Ronald Torreyes. First he filled in for Didi Gregorius and now he’s been filling in for Starlin Castro. Though he’s performed admirably, he’s more excited than anyone to get Castro back in the lineup. He knows the team is better with Castro playing everyday and has no qualms with going back backing up.
New York Post | Ken Davidoff: Players’ Weekend is coming up. It’s this weekend when players will wear alternate jerseys with nicknames on the back. It’s the first time in their history that the Yankees won’t have pinstripes on and will have names on the back of their jersey. Which obviously caused some fans to be outraged because they hate fun. Commissioner Rob Manfred has a message to those fans: the world will not end because of this. Things will be okay and this isn’t a big deal.
