Last night, the Yankees took game one from the Mets thanks to a few big home runs. The bats on both teams might go quiet today, however, as we're in store for a top flight pitching matchup. Sonny Gray will take the ball at Yankee Stadium for the first time since the trade brought him to the Bronx. He's pitched well over his first two starts, owning a 3.00 ERA with a 2.88 FIP across 12 innings. The downside? The Yankees have yet to score with Gray on the mound.
That trend could unfortunately continue tonight as the Mets tap Jacob deGrom. The veteran right-hander has been as advertised this year, posting a 3.21 ERA with a 3.52 FIP. This one won't come easy. Let's hope last night's offensive outbreak carries over, but expect runs to come at a premium.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM and you can tune in on WPIX.
