With the trade deadline in the rearview, we’ve officially entered the dog days of the season. The Yankees currently sit in second place behind the Red Sox, but the division remains very much up for grabs. A lot has unfolded over the last few weeks, which makes this a good time to pause for a few questions and answers.
Since our last mailbag, the Yankees bolstered their starting rotation. Brian Cashman added Jaime Garcia and Sonny Gray prior to the non-waiver trade deadline. Those moves look especially good now that the team lost CC Sabathia and Masahiro Tanaka to injuries. On top of that, a lineup-wide slump has stifled the offense. All of this adds up to a 5 - 9 record. That’s not how you stick in a division race if you ask me.
Any and all questions are welcome. You might want to ask about the impending returns of Greg Bird and Starlin Castro, the injuries to the starting pitchers, or about the fall out from the team’s trades. Feel free to ask anything else that’s on your mind, as well.
You can leave your question in the comment section, or send them in an e-mail at pinstripealleyblog [at] gmail [dot] com. Any questions received by Saturday night on August 19th will be eligible. Thanks!
