After last night’s frustrating series opener in Minnesota, the Yankees look to stop the bleeding and swing the momentum back their way. Luis Cessa is getting the call up for New York. Cessa hasn’t enjoyed a great 2017, going 0-3 with a 4.18 ERA for the Yankees and an only-slightly more serviceable 3.80 ERA in Scranton. Hopefully, he can benefit from some overdue offensive production from the Bombers who, as of late, haven’t been very Bomber-like.
Over the last few games, the Yankees’ loud bats have gone relatively silent as they’ve failed to string together rallies, knock in runners, or get the timely hits they need to win ballgames. They’ve also been the victims of some solid defensive plays from their opponents. Aaron Judge, in particular, would love to have a strong performance tonight as he attempts to break out of his 1-21 skid since the All Star Game. If there was ever a game to do it, it may be tonight, because...
Big Sexy is back! That’s right, Bartolo Colon is taking the mound for the
Indians Expos White Sox Angels Red Sox Yankees A’s Mets Braves Twins. After getting cut by the Braves and picked up by Minnesota, the 44-year-old journeyman and former Yankee looks to turn around his less-than-stellar 2017 (2-8, 8.14 ERA) as he makes his first start for his 10th team. It’ll be fun to face off against the big man again. Bartolo is 6-7 with a 5.69 ERA against the Yankees all-time and is the perfect candidate for Judge to run roughshod over.
First pitch is scheduled for 8:08 PM and can be seen on ESPN (out of market) and WPIX.
