This weekend has been exhausting, and I've just been watching baseball, much less playing it.
Earlier today, CC Sabathia and the Yankee bullpen combined for a tidy 3-0 win over the Red Sox. The team now looks to Masahiro Tanaka to sweep the doubleheader and deliver what would be a huge series win to open the post-All-Star stretch.
Tanaka’s best start of the season came against the Red Sox at Fenway back in April, as the righty threw a complete game shutout. With a battered bullpen and a series against the Twins starting tomorrow, the Yankees need length again from Tanaka.
The Red Sox send David Price to counter, who will bring his well-documented history of ineffectiveness against the Yankees into play. Price owns a 4.70 ERA in his career facing the Bronx Bombers, and was most recently the victim of two Gary Sanchez home runs in a 9-1 drubbing at Yankee Stadium in June.
Jacoby Ellsbury, Gary Sanchez, Starlin Castro and Garrett Cooper find themselves in the lineup tonight. I like this 1-9 set, personally, especially against a lefthanded pitcher.
First pitch is at 8:08 pm EDT, on ESPN.
