New York Yankees at Houston Astros: Michael Pineda vs. Lance McCullers Jr.

Just no more injuries, please.

The month of June has been a series of gut punches, but last night was something worse. The circumstances around Dustin Fowler's injury are just so brutal, but it looks like the surgery went about as well as it could have. Fowler should be back for Spring Training next season.

Tonight, the Yankees open a three-game set in Houston against the league-best Astros. Due to the Fowler injury, Miguel Andujar is back up but is not in the starting lineup. Bryan Mitchell is again up with the big league team, and Ronald Herrera was sent down to Triple-A just before the start of the game. Additionally, Tyler Clippard is not with the team due to the passing of his grandmother.

Lance McCullers Jr. takes the hill tonight for the Astros, just one start removed from a DL-stint. The Yankees will start Michael Pineda, which doesn't exactly bode well. The Yankees were very-nearly shut out the last time they faced McCullers, and Pineda has a June ERA of 5.86. Hopefully, this series the Yankees can begin to right the ship heading into the week before the All-Star break.

First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 pm. The game is being televised on YES and the MLB Network tonight.
