Favorite Underrated Yankee Prospect

Mike Ford, who is currently playing first base for the AA Trenton Thunder is my choice for the most underrated Yankees minor league player. He has put up solid numbers every season, including this season, both in AAA (.306/.432/.750) OPS 1.182 in 36 AB (4 Doubles, 4HR, 10 RBIs, 7BB, 4K) and AA (.281/.401/.455) OPS .855 in 198 AB (12 Doubles, 7 HR, 37 RBI’s, 41 BB, 36K). He has some pop with 11 HR this season (currently tied for second for the most HR in the Yankee minor league system) and is second in the Yankees minor league system in OBP (.401). He has good plate discipline and is leading the AA Eastern League in walks with 41BB compared with 36K. Over his career, he has more walks than strikeouts. Scout.com has reported he is in the top 10 of the Yankees minor league system in every offensive category. A fun fact is that he is 1 of 2 IVY League educated Yankees first baseman who have hit 4 HR in a professional game-the other being Lou Gehrig. Despite his success, he has received surprisingly little recognition.
