New York Daily News | Christian Red: Even though he’s been awful, the Yankees apparently have no plans to replace Chris Carter at first place right now. Cashman admitted that first base has been a problem, but says the team will continue to run Carter out there. For some reason, Cashman was asked about Ellsbury at first, which he immediately shot down, instead of being asked why he wouldn’t call up Tyler Austin.
Fox Sports | Allyssa Lee: Good news! Aaron Judge has officially been invited to the Home Run Derby. Bad news! Judge has not accepted the invitation yet. Though Judge had previously said he would participate if invited, he said he’s thinking about it for now. He’s focused on trying to help the team right now.
MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: The MLB Draft is over and the next step is the signing process. The Yankees have been busy, as they’ve already signed 20 of their draft selections so far. They’re also expected to sign the top two picks in the draft, Clarke Schmidt and Matt Sauer. They’ve signed each of their picks from rounds 3-17 so far, and most importantly they signed their 22nd round pick, right-hander Janson Junk.
Yahoo Sports | Chris Cwik: The Yankees Double-A affiliate Trenton Thunder will be wearing special jerseys on Monday. In honor of Derby, who has been the team’s bat dog since 2008, the Thunder will wear special Derby jerseys to honor the good boy and the good job he’s done. I just hope they end up putting these jerseys for sale.
Cut4 | Andrew MEARNS: Harlem Globetrotters have drafted Aaron Judge and Tim Tebow of the Mets. It was their 11th annual player draft, and while they did select some actual basketball players, they also spent some time on fun picks like Judge and Tebow. They previously selected Mariano Rivera in their 2013 draft, so Judge isn’t the first Yankee to be drafted by the Globetrotters.
