NYY @ LAA: Another series win up for grabs

Michael Pineda leads the Yankees in their final game in Anaheim

Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

The Yankees lost an extra innings affair very early this morning, as Eric Young and the Angels topped them 3-2 in 11 innings. If you stayed up for the entire thing, you are a stronger person than I am.

The rubber match of the series at Angel Stadium goes tonight at 10:07 pm EDT, as Michael Pineda faces Matt Shoemaker. Big Mike was terrific in his last start, going 7 innings while striking out 8, and allowing a single, unearned, run in a win over the Red Sox.

Shoemaker, the Angels’ right-hander, has been essentially league average in 2017, and a league average pitcher did a pretty good job quieting the Yankees last night.

Chris Carter appears to be atoning for his mistakes last night, as Matt Holliday sees time at first and Aaron Judge will DH tonight. Also, a roster note, Ronald Herrera was recalled from Trenton and Ben Heller optioned to Scranton earlier today.

The game will be broadcast on YES and WFAN.
