New York Yankees at Chicago Cubs: Jordan Montgomery vs. Brett Anderson

The Yankees look to build off yesterday's thriller in game two of their interleague series

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday's afternoon matchup at the friendly confines of Wrigley Field looked to be one of those classic 2016 Yankee games: frustrating, low scoring, full of missed opportunities. As we all know now, Brett Gardner changed that in the top of the ninth inning, and the Yankees took the series opener 3-2.

Game two tonight features a battle of left handed pitchers, with the Yankees' Jordan Montgomery facing off against Chicago Cubs southpaw Brett Anderson. Anderson has not pitched very well for the Cubs, with an unsightly 6.23 ERA, 4.51 FIP, 67 ERA+ and walking five per nine innings. Here's hoping the poor pitching continues and leads to more runs than the Yankees managed yesterday.

Jordan Montgomery has been solid enough this season, his first in MLB. He struck out 7 in five innings last weekend against the Orioles, but has had some trouble with distance so far in his career. He's in tough against the NL's best offense in 2016, but six plus innings would be very encouraging for the kid.

The wind is blowing IN today, so we'll see how much carry, if at all, balls have tonight. Aaron Judge had no problems with the wind in batting practice, and I have to admit, I want to see him get a hold of a pitch into the wind.

Catch the game at 7:15 EDT. It's the nationally televised game so it'll be on FOX, and WFAN for radio listeners.
