The Yankees responded resoundingly to their first losing streak in weeks, tallying 11 runs to beat the Blue Jays last night. They'll take on Toronto again tonight with a chance to pick up their third series win in a row.
They will do so with CC Sabathia on the mound, as the big left-hander looks to rebound from his worst start of the year. Sabathia gave up seven runs in 5.2 innings against the Orioles last week to bring his season ERA to 4.34. He also sports uninspiring strikeout and walk rates of 6.2 K/9 and 3.4 BB/9. He'll be opposed by the Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman, who owns a 2.97 ERA and 2.83 FIP on the year. Stroman generated some hype with his excellent World Baseball Classic performance and has thus far lived up to it, so he should be a nice challenge for the Yankees' hot bats to solve.
Jacoby Ellsbury will be sitting again after injuring his elbow on Monday, and Austin Romine is out after suffering a groin injury yesterday. With Greg Bird also recently going on the DL, the lineup is a little banged up, and the imminent return of Gary Sanchez can't come soon enough. The game begins at 7:05 EST and can be seen on YES as well as ESPN.
