MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: Masahiro Tanaka is not having a good 2017 thus far. Aside from that complete game shutout against the Red Sox, it has not been pleasant watching him pitch. The Yankees believe that he is healthy and Rothschild says that they need to go “back to basics” with him. Tanaka realizes that he needs to make some adjustments. The sooner the better. Watching him pitch has not been as fun as it normally is.

Newsday | Erik Boland: Joe Girardi was a bit miffed at the home plate umpire in yesterday’s game. Scott Barry tossed Larry Rothschild for arguing the strike zone and then tossed Girardi for asking why Rothschild was tossed. What followed was a hilarious scene which included Girardi covering home plate with dirt. Girardi told reporters that he was also not happy that Sanchez had to clean up said dirt.

New York Daily News | Mike Mazzeo: Gary Sanchez sat in Friday’s game due to a stiff neck. In yesterday’s game, the catcher who is known as Gary took a bad foul ball off the mask. He suffered bruising on the right side of his face. Girardi will evaluate Sanchez and see if he’s fit to play today. An extra day of rest might be needed. On the plus side, he did crush a dinger yesterday and is hitting much better since coming back from his injury.

Newsday | Erik Boland: You know who else crushed a dinger yesterday? Aaron Judge. So did Corey Dickerson, who was plunked by Tommy Layne. This prompted a response from Matt Andriese, who hit Matt Holliday after Sanchez’s home run. Later, he hit Aaron Judge and was ejected. Judge didn’t think much of it. He also told reporters that he couldn’t imagine a situation where he’d charge the mound. That would be something to see.
