Back in the Trop for the second last game of this road trip, the Yankees are looking to snap a two game losing streak after dropping the opener 5-4 last night.
Masahiro Tanaka starts after the worst outing of his career last weekend. He's had a rough start to the season, and if there were ever a time to turn it around, it'd be against the always-annoying Tampa Bay Rays.
Matt Andriese counters for the Rays, with a 3-1 record on the season, with a 3.18 ERA and 4.45 FIP. He handcuffed the Yankees back in April in a game the Yankees ended up winning, but Andriese went six innings, giving up one run on a home run to Aaron Hicks, who starts in right field today.
Aaron Judge is the DH, meaning Matt Holliday sees time at first base. Starting Holliday on turf is an interesting decision to say the least.
Andriese is sporting a career high HR/9 and BB/9 rate, so the best course of action for the Yankees today may be to sit at the plate, take walks and hit a home run or two. I think we'd all be in favor of that.
First pitch goes at 4:10pm EDT. Catch it on YES or WFAN.
