Game 1 of today's doubleheader had a little bit of everything. The starter, Luis Severino, struggled without his best stuff in just 2.1 innings. The offense battled back with some fire power, getting home runs from Starlin Castro, Aaron Judge, and Brett Gardner. They also got a huge bases-clearing triple from Chase Headley, and the lopsided score ended up making it look as though the game was never in doubt.
Now the Yankees look to even the series against the Astros with a win in Game 2 of the doubleheader. New York will send Masahiro Tanaka to the mound in hopes of doing just that. First up, however, is the Derek Jeter jersey retirement ceremony.
It looks as though most of the rain has cleared out. Game 1 never needed a rain delay, but it did come down fairly hard at times. Hopefully it stays out of the way so that the Yankees can honor Jeter without a downpour.
We're gonna play two today, but let's not play 18 like last Sunday. Thank you.
