Wow, what a game last night. After trailing by a score of a 9-1, a deficit that likely would have vanquished any team from 2013 to 2016, was surmountable for this one. It's impossible to look at this team and not think that it is immensely more talented, exciting, and fun.
Here's another benefit of having a young team: teams of old always struggled with the day game after the night game. Manager Joe Girardi was always forced to give someone the rest and the lineup would always look a tad hollow. Not today, as the Yankees have essentially the same lineup as yesterday, just rejiggered and with the substitution of Brett Gardner for Aaron Hicks.
Michael Pineda will get the start for the Yankees, and we'll once again see if it's Jekyll or Hyde. He has already allowed five home runs so far this season, so I'm not holding my breath. Luckily the opposing starter is Ubaldo Jimenez, who has his own gaudy home run rate. If there was a time to take advantage of a home run-prone starter when your starter could be subject to implosion, now would be the time.
It's going to be a beautiful day, just a perfect day for baseball. Catch the game on YES, MASN, or MLB.tv, or just sit outside and listen on the radio on WFAN. You do you. Go Yankees, and go baseball.
