The Yankees' home opener went about as well as it could have for New York. Michael Pineda flirted with perfection and the offense was able to back up his efforts with a couple home runs. After yet another day off yesterday, the Yankees are back to take on the Rays again this afternoon.
Jordan Montgomery makes his big league debut today after winning the fifth starter spot. It's a great time to get another look at a player who could be very important to the Yankees going forward. Montgomery stayed in Tampa until his spot in the rotation was needed, and struck out nine High-A batters in his warm-up start there last week.
