Around the Empire

New York Daily News | Mike Mazzeo: Aaron Judge has been one of the big topics of discussion this offseason, in addition to just being “one of the big” in general (see photo above). The main question was whether or not he’d be able to adjust, or “adjudgest” to major league pitching. Yesterday, Judge came a bit closer to delivering that verdict. Girardi spoke of Judge’s small adjustment with his legs that seems to be paying off. Here’s hoping justice is served to our enemies soon.

New York Post | Kevin Kernan: Greg Bird has been another one of the hot topics of discussion the offseason, in addition to just being “one of the hot” in general. (see any photo). Bird was coming into spring training wanting to show he’s healthy. Thus far, he’s done just that. This article takes a look at how Bird dealt with his year off from baseball, including how getting injured possibly made him a better ballplayer. His shoulder looks great so far. Here’s hoping he wins the first base job.

MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: Luis Severino took the mound yesterday. Severino is competing for a rotation spot this year, being that last year was less than successful. His primary job has been to work on the changeup and he has been doing just that. Despite giving up a two-run bomb to Jose Baustista, Severino felt confident in his changeup and Girardi has been pleased to see it more. Good luck, Sevy.

MLB.com | Jim Callis: Most of the discussion lately has been about the youth movement. That probably has to do with how good our farm is. For the first time in a long time, our farm has been ranked the 2nd best in the majors. Only the Atlanta Braves’ farm system has more talent than our farm. Seeing Gleyber Torres and Clint Frazier during spring training is exciting. It’s good to have baseball back.

The Yankees will play a road game against the Tigers this afternoon at 1:05pm, but it will not be on TV, so no game thread. It will be on WFAN if you want to give it a listen there though. Lineup’s below.
