Spring training 2017: Yankees vs Rays game thread

Jordan Montgomery gets a chance to impress.

MLB: Spring Training-New York Yankees at Philadelphia Phillies Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Spring training has gone pretty well for the Yankees. Greg Bird has hit very well in his return, Masahiro Tanaka has been fantastic, and newcomers like Matt Holliday have shown promise. As camp draws to a close, the Yankees are looking to end it on a strong note.

Jordan Montgomery gets his chance to impress Joe Girardi and co. today with a start against the Rays in Port Charlotte. It’ll be the young pitching prospect’s first start of the spring with a chance for him to work his way onto the Opening Day roster.

In addition to Montgomery, a number of regulars are expected to make the trip from Tampa. Greg Bird, after hitting two home runs in the team’s win over the Phillies on Wednesday, will get another crack at it. Aaron Judge, Aaron Hicks, and Jacoby Ellsbury are all expected to be in the lineup as well.

You can watch the game on MLB.tv at 1:05 pm ET.
