Sports Illustrated | Charlotte Carroll: Remember Dustin Fowler ? Before being traded to the Athletics for Sonny Gray, he was a Yankee outfielder...for 2⁄3 of an inning. His season was devastatingly cut short after crashing into an unpadded electrical box in Chicago. Now Fowler is suing the White Sox and the state agency that manages Guaranteed Rate Field claiming negligence. There’s a Guaranteed Rate/settelment joke somewhere in here but I’m too tired to actually find it, so I’ll leave it to you guys.
Baseball America | Peter Gammons: Hot take coming in here: Brian Cashman is good. What?! Crazy thought, right? Brian Cashman has gone through a lot as the Yankees’ general manager and with the complete trust of Hal Steinbrenner, he’s been able to assemble one of the best teams in baseball, mostly through drafts and trades. One thing about Cashman has been that no matter what he does and the moves he makes, he’s always done “what was in the best interest of the Yankees.”
MLB.com | Mark Feinsand: The BBWAA will host their annual awards dinner in NY on January 28th. Yankees Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge (that’s still so much fun to type) will pick up their NL MVP and AL ROY awards, respectively. The BBWAA NY Chapter will will also present Judge with the Sid Mercer-Dick Young New York Player of the Year Award and the Joe DiMaggio Toast of the Town Award. CC Sabathia will receive the Ben Epstein-Dan Castellano Good Guy Award, while 1998 Yankees will also be honored with the Willie, Mickey and the Duke Award.
