NYY interested in Machado; Cashman talking to Frazier’s agent; NYY interested in Cole, Fulmer, Corbin; Judge “pumped” for Stanton; Jabari can Blasht baseballs too

MLB: New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

New York Daily News | Nicholas Parco: After trading Chase Headley to the Padres, the Yankees now have an opening at third base. To fill that gap, the Yankees have reportedly expressed interest in trading for Manny Machado. Machado is only a year away from free agency, so I doubt Cashman would pay the high price he’d have to for Machado, unless an extension was guaranteed. Also, there’s no indication that Baltimore ownership would even approve a trade to New York. But, we can dream.

NJ.com | Brendan Kuty: With third base opening up, the Yankees have apparently also been talking to Todd Frazier about a potential reunion. While Frazier’s power would be an upgrade over Headley’s, this kind of seems more like a lateral move than anything else if they go through with it. Frazier, though, probably wants a multi-year deal and the thought is that the Yankees might not want to commit to that. Let’s see. For what it’s worth:

New York Daily News | Mike Mazzeo: The Yankees need another starting pitcher and according to Aaron Boone they’re “working hard” to get one. Supposedly the Yankees have kicked the tires on Michael Fulmer of the Tigers, Gerrit Cole of the Pirates, and Patrick Corbin of the Diamondbacks. Because I’m a petty individual, I’m going to say Michael Fulmer can bunt off and I hope he’s never a Yankee. Hmph. CC Sabathia is still an option but he’s still meeting with other teams:

Don’t go to Canada, CC. It’s awful. Right, Josh?

Newsday | Erik Boland: I’m pumped. You know why? Because Giancarlo Stanton is a Yankee. You’re pumped. You know why? Because Giancarlo Stanton is a Yankee. You know who else is pumped? Aaron Judge. I’m sure you know why. Brian Cashman called him to get his thoughts on a deal and probably to reassure him that this didn’t mean they were taking anything away from Judge and Judge reassured Cashman and even encouraged him to go forward. Judge is awesome. Giancarlo is awesome.

Cut4 | Michael Clair: The Yankees love their large outfielders. They have Judge and that wasn’t enough so they went and got Stanton. When that wasn’t enough, they added Jabari Blash. Take a second to soak in the beauty of that name. Granted that was more a move to shed salary by sending Headley with Bryan Mitchell, the Yankees still added another large outfielder. While Blash isn’t exactly Judge or Stanton, he is large and also has the ability to launch monster dongs of his own when he actually makes contact.
