The Yankees New Roster/Lineup.

The 25 Man Roster

Outfield:

Judge and Stanton play the corners. Hicks starts in CF. Gardner is the DH and 4th outfielder. When the outfielders need a day off... They get a real day off with no DH.

I would trade Frazier and salary-dump Ellsbury, maybe even in the same deal.

Infield:

Bird at 1st. Torres ultimately at 2nd, in June most likely. Torreyes until then. Didi at shortstop. 3rd base is where it gets interesting. I want Andujar to get a real chance in 2017. He should play 60% of the games at 3rd, minimum, to find out if he can play 3rd career wise. Also Andujar should DH at times to get at-bats to develop as a hitter.

Possibly Pick up Todd Frazier to mentor the intricacies of 3rd base to Andujar and backup at 3rd and 1st and pinch hit and possibly backup DH.

Headley should be traded (salary dumped?).

Catcher:

Sanchez is obviously starting.

Backup catcher...

Who knows???

Starting pitching:

Tanaka, Severino, Gray, Montgomery, Sabathia, and Adams. Yes, this is the mythical 6 person starting rotation. Sabathia will be the elder statesman to whom the younger pitchers continue to go to for advice, etc. Each pitcher will do well on 5 days rest. There will be less arm fatigue, less elbow and shoulder inflammation leading to healthier pitching arms. Every pitcher will be fresh for the playoffs, theoretically.

If this allows 3 of the starting pitchers to pitch 2/3's more of an inning per week, then one less reliever is needed on the roster.

Relief Pitching:

7 relievers total. Shreve, Mitchell, and/or Cessa could or should be traded.??.

The Lineup: Or:

1) Gardner 1) Gardner

2) Judge 2) Judge

3) Sanchez 3) Sanchez

4) Stanton 4) Bird

5) Bird 5) Stanton

6) Didi 6) Didi

7) Torres/ 7) Andujar/

8) Andujar/ 8) Torres/

9) Hicks 9) Hicks

A week ago if anyone had posted something like this, there would have been an unlimited number of comments calling the poster unrealistic or crazy.

But 1 week later, a totally different reality. Bringing in Stanton means that the Yanks can now afford to play rookies at 2nd and even possibly 3rd.
