MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: MASAHIRO TANAKA LOVES US! Ahem. The Yankees crossed one potential offseason issue off the list. While their search for a new manager will continue, that new manager will have Masahiro Tanaka in their rotation. Tanaka decided not to opt out of his seven-year contract. Here is his official statement:
"I have decided to stay with the Yankees for the next three seasons," Tanaka said in a statement. "It was a simple decision for me as I have truly enjoyed the past four years playing for this organization and for the wonderful fans of New York.
"I'm excited to continue to be a part of this team, and I'm committed to our goal of bringing a World Series championship back to the Steinbrenner family, the Yankees organization and the great fans of New York."
I love him so much. He stayed because of that. Never forget that!
Newsday | Erik Boland: One of the other questions regarding pitching is whether or not the Yankees bring back CC Sabathia. He wants to come back. CC loves playing in NY. He also says that he will understand if the Yankees do not bring him back. What he does after that is anyone’s guess. Sabathia said that he was also shocked the Yankees did not bring back Joe Girardi. I don’t think CC is alone in this.
MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: Break out the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Kevin Reese has officially been named the senior director of player development, replacing Gary Denbo. That’s all there is to it.
Yahoo Sports | Liz Roscher: Jose Altuve went on The Tonight Show, which should not be confused with the superior Toe-Night Show. While talking with Fallon, he talked about how much he loves Yankees RF and guaranteed AL ROTY winner Aaron Judge. The two of them connected during the All Star Game. Their friendship is best expressed in picture form, when the two of them stand next to one another. We need more of that.
