Minnesota Twins @ New York Yankees: 2017 AL Wild Card Game

The Yankees return to postseason play, hosting the 2017 AL Wild Card Game

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

It all comes down to this. Win or go home. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. It's time to haul out all the sports cliches, because it's time for playoff baseball.

The Yankees took the season series 4-2 over the Twins. Luis Severino was one of the top five pitchers in baseball this season. The team boasts the second-best offense in all of baseball. None of that matters right now, since one game is all the Yankees get to prove they belong in the upper class of Major League Baseball.

Severino (2.98 ERA/3.07 FIP) will get the ball in his first postseason start. He'll face Ervin Santana (3.28 ERA/4.46 FIP), who lost his only start against the Yankees, at Yankee Stadium, in 2017.

The keys to the game are pretty simple: Severino's gotta be good, and the offense has to hit the ball very far. That's how this team has won all season, and there's no point in changing it now.

First pitch is at 8:09pm EDT, on ESPN and WFAN.
