ALCS Game 5, Astros @ Yankees: Keep hitting the ball

New, comments

The Yankees can take a 3-2 series lead heading before back to Houston today

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

In the first two games of the ALCS, the Yankees scored two runs in 18 innings. Both of those games were losses. In the successive two games, the Yankees have scored 16 runs in 16 innings, and both games were wins. This suggests a logical course of action: score lots of runs.

It'll be a tough task today, as Dallas Keuchel returns to Yankee Stadium after muzzling the Bronx Bombers in game one. Keuchel's manhandled the Yankees in the past as we all know, but has pitched noticeably worse on the road in 2017. Both Keuchel's ERA and FIP are a full run higher on the road, and he walks a batter more per nine as well. Between his dominance of the Yankees and struggles as a visitor, something's gotta give.

Masahiro Tanaka takes the hill for the Yankees, and what more needs to be said about him? He's been outstanding for a month now, including two brilliant postseason starts. All he has to do today is keep it up.

Catch first pitch at 5pm EDT, on FS1, ESPN Radio or WFAN. I've got my lucky socks on, do you?
