Around the Empire

New York Daily News | Christian Red: Alex Rodriguez is BACK...in the news again. A-Rod’s, spokesman Ron Berkowitz has stated that Alex has no intention of attempting a comeback in 2017. He is looking forward to working with the Yankees’ young players in spring training. With the incredible wealth of baseball knowledge he has at his disposal, our prospects are probably in very good hands.

New York Daily News | Mike Mazzeo: Jose Quintana is still on the trading block and the Yankees are trying to tiptoe around a floor covered with LEGO blocks in order to get him. Due to this, it seems that they are long shots to get the White Sox lefty. Cashman is reluctant to trade any of his shiny new farm pieces for Quintana, so “long shots” probably means “no shots.”

New York Post | Hannah Withiam: Once upon a time, the Yankees trade Peter O’Brien to the Diamondbacks for one Martin Prado. On Tuesday, the Kansas City Royals traded for the former Yankees prospect. Free from the confines of the DH-less NL, O’Brien may get his chance to shine as the Royals’ DH. Perhaps the Yankees will regret letting him go. Perhaps.

New York Daily News | Mike Mazzeo: Speaking of Yankee prospects, Clint Frazier. Red Thunder is continuing his offseason work of courting Washington Nationals superstar Bryce Harper to join the Yankees. Good work, Frazier. You are using your Twitter account for the best of reasons.

Song of the Day

Father Figure by George Michael

It’s George Michael Week on Pinstripe Alley. With A-Rod declaring that he will not be returning to play baseball in 2017, he can continue his much more vital role as DadRod. In honor of that and in continuing honor of George Michael, I thought this song would be appropriate. As always, please link us your song of the day.
