Ask Pinstripe Alley: Yankees mailbag questions request

It’s the most boring time of the baseball year. The majority of moves have already been made, and now it’s a waiting game until pitchers and catchers report to spring training. Not a lot is going on, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t have questions!

The World Baseball Classic is a popular topic right now with players deciding whether or not they want to participate. The Yankees may be hoping that more players go the Masahiro Tanaka route and stay away from the WBC, as Mark Teixeira’s injury in the last one was pretty awful.

The Yankees will also have some interesting competitions in spring training to look forward to. Will Greg Bird earn the first base job with his performance in the Grapefruit League, or will Tyler Austin do enough to impress and earn a share of the job? Which pitchers will end up in the rotation? Who will be the team’s long reliever?
