Around the Empire
MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: Just like pretty much everyone, Luis Severino did not have a very good 2016. Also just like pretty much everyone, it’s possible that his sophomore slump was due to increased reps in the weight room. I know I don’t pitch well after benching 300lbs, which is definitely a thing I can do. The Yankees, who still view Severino as a starter, want him to focus more on his flexibility during the offseason. They are hopefully he can be more successful with his change as well. There is always hope.
New York Daily News | Mike Mazzeo: Beat writer Bathan Geovaldi is reporting that the Yankees are possibly interested in bringing back Nathan Eovaldi. While Eovaldi will not pitch until after 2017 due to his second Tommy John surgery, Cashman has stated that they are in talks with his agent and that they’re hoping to work something out. Apparently there is some competition for his future services.
New York Post | Kevin Kernan: Clint Frazier got frozen yogurt with Reggie Jackson. There’s a lot more in this article about Clint Frazier. His work ethic, his character, his hopes and dreams. It’s a really great look into the young prospect. However, the most important aspect of this story is that Clint Frazier and Reggie Jackson have built a friendship with one another and that they stopped and got frozen yogurt. If Frazier becomes a superstar in the Bronx, I demand a bobblehead of this fro-yo adventure. I’m not joking.
