Around the Empire

Today’s Knuckleball | Taylor Smith: Bryan Mitchell was activated from the 60-day disabled list. After being activated, he was immediately optioned to Triple-A Scranton.

ESPN | Andrew Marchand: In case you haven’t heard...#GaryGood. The Mariners intentionally walked Gary Sanchez twice during Wednesday’s game, and Mark Teixeira had nothing but good things to say about him.

NJ.com | Brendan Kuty: Chase Headley has been riding the Yankees’ bench while Ronald Torreyes has been swinging a hot bat. Although Headley understands that Torreyes has been playing well, he’s still frustrated that he hasn’t been playing.

New York Post | Dan Martin: The Yankees play the majority of their games during the rest of the season against the AL East, which is a potentially good thing, and a potentially bad thing. The team hasn’t faired too well against their division this season, but they could make up ground in the standings rather quickly if they can start stringing some games together.
