New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: Look, it’s not like we want to keep talking about/linking to articles about how good Gary Sanchez is. Maybe a little. A lot. Gary Sanchez is incredible. In addition to his stellar offense, Mark Teixeira has been even more impressed with his catching skills. He even compared them to Ivan Rodriguez in his prime. That is high praise. Hopefully Teixeira is on the mark with this observation.
Fangraphs | Jeff Sullivan: Once upon a time the Yankees had another hot hitting catching prospect by the name of Jesus Montero. He was traded for Michael Pineda. It has not gone well for Jesus. In case you’re thinking that Sanchez might follow the same path as Jesus, please read this comparison piece from Jeff Sullivan. It should be encouraging.
Fangraphs | David Laurila: Tyler Clippard has bounced around the league quite a bit. Now he’s on the Yankees and he has helped form a new three-headed monster, which I have thus dubbed Mecha King Ghidorah. In this article, he talks about how what he’s learned over the years. A really fascinating read.
Baseball America | Josh Norris: While the current wave of prospects are making waves in the majors, there are still some prospects to watch closely in the minor league system. Blake Rutherford is such a prospect. The Yankees’ first rounder is doing extremely well in Pulaski. A look at him and some other rookie-level prospects.
New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: Alex Rodriguez has seemingly put his playing days behind him. He now joins the Greater Talent Network agency, which represents speakers from various fields. It looks like A-ROD Corp. is getting underway. Still need a t-shirt with that logo on it. More importantly, it looks like A-Rod might be back behind the mic for the World Series, which is the best news.
Fun Questions
- How many base runners will Gary Sanchez nail while trying to steal a base?
- If you could insert any Yankee player into a Disney movie, which player and which movie would you choose?
Song of the Day
Try Everything by Shakira
It’s Disney Week on Pinstripe Alley. The Yankees are trying everything they can to make the playoffs this year, so I figured this song was appropriate. Plus, I really like it and Zootopia is awesome! As always, please link us your song of the day.
