Around the Empire
Newsday | Ari Kramer: When Greg Kirkland was in Trenton, he saw Aaron Judge play. Judge hit a monster home run. When Judge saw Greg cheering for him after the home run, he gave a “thank you” nod at Greg. This article has nothing to do with that. A lot of Yankee fans didn’t know who Judge was before Saturday. I’m sure they know him now. Last night, after scoring the game’s only run with an RBI double, Judge became the first Yankee to ever hit an extra-base hit in their first three games. My verdict is that Judge is okay at the game of baseball.
NJ.com | Brendan Kuty: Believe it or not, Aaron Judge did not have the best start to the season in Triple-A. He then made an adjustment to his swing and his season improved. Boy did it improve. Now he’s brought that improved swing to the Bronx and he’s improving the Yankees’ offense and the hopes of Yankee fans.
New York Daily News | Chuck Modiano: This weekend, the Yankees celebrated the 20th Anniversary of their 1996 World Series Championship. While there were a bunch of guests there, the GM of that 1996 team, Bob Watson, was absent. The reason why is heartbreaking, as Watson is currently battling Stage 4 kidney failure. We wish him the best of health. For those that don’t know what he did for the Yankees in the 90’s, please read this article.
NJ.com | Randy Miller: If you need a positive, uplifting story after reading about Bob Watson, look no further than this article about new Yankee prospect Clint Frazier. In addition to all his tools as a baseball player, Frazier has a really kind and generous heart. I urge you to read this piece about the Yankees young outfielder.
The Wall St. Journal | Jared Diamond: Alex Rodriguez is officially no longer a Yankee player. That hasn’t stopped the media from trying to find out if he’s going to play for another team or not. A-Rod’s publicist, Mr. Ron Berkowitz, came out and attempted to put the rumors to rest, saying that A-Rod has no intention to play for another team this year. This year. I’m sure the press will accept that and simply move on.

Song of the Day
The New Pollution by Beck
It’s 1996 Week on Pinstripe Alley. Since we’ve ventured back to my high school days, which is just so cool, I wanted to play one of my absolute favorite songs from that year. This album made me fall in love with Beck’s music, especially this song. As always, please link us your song of the day.
