Today marks the beginning of a post-Alex Rodriguez era for the Yankees. With Rodriguez gone, New York has called up a pair of youngsters, Tyler Austin and Aaron Judge. Austin will bat seventh and play first base, while Judge will bat eighth and play right field. For good measure, fellow top prospect Gary Sanchez is batting sixth as the DH.
The Yankees also will have their ace, Masahiro Tanaka (3.32 ERA, 3.33 FIP), on the mound. Matt Andriese (2.90 ERA, 3.11 FIP) will oppose him for the Rays. It's tough to follow up A-Rod's final game in pinstripes, but a game featuring the Yankees' best pitcher and some exciting prospects is a good start.
The game will begin at 1:05 EST and can be seen on the YES Network and the MLB Network.
