Around the Empire

MLB.com | Shane Jackson: Spread the news, Didi Gregorius is having a pretty amazing season. Since June 14th, Didi is hitting .369 with six dingers and 18 RBI. Combine that with his usually stellar defense and you can, and should, make the argument that he is currently the best player on the team. Who knows if he keeps this up all year, but it’s a pleasure to see that Brian Cashman did not trade Shane Greene away in vain. On the other hand, Fire Cashman.

New York Post | George A. King III: Rob Refsnyder is making the most of his opportunity to play at the big league level. Joe Girardi said on Thursday that he’s going to try and get him more at bats because "he likes him." That’s cool. Meanwhile, more at bats for Refsnyder means less at bats for Aaron Hicks. I’m pretty sure no one is particularly said about this fact.

New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: With Carlos Beltran being stuck in the DH spot, where some would say he primarily belongs anyway, Alex Rodriguez is not really seeing any playing time. It’s hard to blame Girardi, as they need to protect Beltran. He’s one of our best hitters and best potential trade chips and A-Rod is not.

The Times-Tribune | Shane Hennigan: A bit of concerning news from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as Yankees OF prospect Aaron Judge limped a bit down to first base in the fifth inning. As of right now they’re calling it a sore knee, so hopefully it is nothing too serious. Judge will see the doctor today, so send all your best wishes to NEPA this morning.

ET | Jackie Willis: It looks like Derek Jeter and Hannah Davis will be getting married this weekend. It’s going to be a small ceremony in Napa, California, with only family and a few close friends invited. That’s right, they’re doing it their way!

It’s Aliens Week on Pinstripe Alley. For the finale of Aliens Week, I thought I’d end it with one of my favorite tracks from Doctor Who, one of the most famous aliens ever created. Allons-y. As always, please link us your song of the day.
