Around the Empire
LoHud | Chad Jennings: Should the Yankees buy or should the Yankees sell? This is where the team has been at for the past month and not much has changed to warrant making a decision. They are still dancing around the issues like they are the .500 mark. The problem is that they can conceivably still make a run for the postseason. Perhaps they can do both. Here are some thoughts in regards to both buying and selling at the trade deadline.
Newsday | Anthony Rieber: There is no doubt that Dellin Betances, Andrew Miller, and Aroldis Chapman make up one of the most dominant bullpen trios in the majors. The other members of the bullpen have not been dominant. Far, far from it really. As we saw after the three hour rain delay against the Rangers last week, there are really no other reliable members of the pen outside of Ghidorah. This is a problem that has plagued the Yankees all year. We will wait to see if they can find a solution.
New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: There have been talks about what to do with Alex Rodriguez as the team moves forward. Unlike Mark Teixeira, whom provides the Yankees with stellar defense, A-Rod is a DH. Hitting and his overall "adorkableness" are really the only things that he’s here for. Despite his rough year, A-Rod believes that he’s on the verge of figuring things out, saying that he thinks "there are very big things to come." Here’s hoping, Dad.
LoHud | Chad Jennings: Nick Swisher announced that he will not be rejoining the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders for the remainder of the season. With the birth of his new baby girl, he has decided that he will be taking some time away to spend with his family and reevaluate his options for next season. With others being promoted ahead of him, Rob Refsnyder’s adapting to the position, and the signing of Ike Davis, it was highly unlikely that he was going to rejoin the Yankees this season. Best of luck with your future, Swish, and congrats on your new baby girl.

Song of the Day
Deep Space Nine Theme by City of Prague Philharmonic
It’s Aliens Week on Pinstripe Alley. Going from Country Music to music dealing with aliens makes perfect sense in my mind. Today’s song is the opening to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, one of the best sci-fi shows ever made and my personal favorite Star Trek show. As always, please link us your song of the day.
