The Yankees' dance with mediocrity continues. After dropping a 12 inning game to the Giants yesterday, New York will face another chance to again match their high water mark of two games above .500. Nathan Eovaldi (4.93 ERA, 4.95 FIP) will make his second start since returning to the rotation. Jeff Samardzija (4.05 ERA, 4.20 FIP) will oppose him for San Francisco.
Whatever happens on the field today could be overshadowed by what the Yankees do off the field. Still, the Yankees are theoretically not out of it, at 4.5 games behind the Blue Jays for the Wild Card. New York will soldier on and try to take two out of three from one of the National League's better teams.
The game begins at 1:05 EST and can be seen on the YES Network and on TBS.
