Around the Empire

LoHud | Chad Jennings: CC Sabathia did not have the best of outings yesterday. Considering how well he has pitched, I think he’s owed a bad game or two. A more serious concern was when he rolled his right ankle a couple times during the game. The Yankees sent Sabathia to get X-rays on his ankle and they thankfully came back negative. CC is confident that he’ll make his next start. Praise be.

New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: As we all know, there is a lot of talk about the Yankees either buying or selling as the trade deadline approaches. Whether you believe they should sell or not, the overall point is that the Yankees aren’t in a position where they 100% know if the season is lost or not. As with anything, patience is required.

Newsday | Anthony Reiber: Alex Rodriguez is not having the best of years. Last year was a resurgence for A-Rod, but perhaps age has caught up to him. Or maybe he’s secretly hurt. In any case, it’s something the Yankees have to consider as they move forward. There’s still time for A-Rod to break out of his slump and hit for power again. That would be nice.

MLB.com | Nick Suss: After the afternoon ballgame, several Yankee players got dolled up and traveled to Gotham Hall in Manhattan to attend the 10th annual "Let’s Score" gala last night. This event, presented by the Carlos Beltran foundation, had a silent auction that featured a lot of signed sport memorabilia. Many of the Yankees that attended, like Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller, commended Beltran on his "selflessness and general compassion."

The Player’s Tribune | Derek Jeter: I just want to say that I love typing Derek Jeter’s name as writer/publisher. The former Yankee shortstop interviewed the current United Stated President, Barack Obama. The two of them talked about a range of topics, from childhood to Derek’s Turn 2 Foundation to retirement. Thanks Obama.
