The season series against the Rockies has not gone according to plan. Following last night's loss, the Yankees are on the verge of once again being swept by the Rockies in a short series. They've been outhit, outpitched, and outdefended in each game. That is less than ideal. Thankfully there's a short turnaround and the Yankees are sending CC Sabathia to the mound this afternoon. His renaissance season has been something special, hasn't it? Sabathia has returned to the upper-echelons of American League pitchers and is exactly the guy you want on the mound to stop a losing streak.
The Yankees bats will square off against Rockies right-hander Jon Gray. Jacoby Ellsbury returns after missing last night's game with a stomach virus. Also of note: Rob Refsnyder starts against a right-handed pitcher for the second game in a row. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM and can be seen on YES.
