Around the Empire

New York Post | Howie Kussoy: Friday was not kind to the New York Yankees as their 2nd best starter, CC Sabathia, was placed on the 15-day DL with a left groin strain. Sabathia will probably be out for at least three weeks. During last night's game, Jacoby Ellsbury was removed due to a muscle strain in his right hip. He will go for an MRI today and is listed as day-to-day. Yay.

Newsday | David Lennon: More discussion regarding the Yankees most recent injuries, including what to do in regards with Ellsbury. Ben Gamel has already been called up. Aaron Judge, who has been hitting very well over the last eight games, is also a potential option.

New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: Despite his early struggle, and I think we're being generous with the word "struggle," Yankees third baseman Chase Headley is optimistic that he can overcome his torrid start to the season. He is believed to be starting tomorrow. We can hope these past couple of days off is what he needed.

Newsday | David Lennon: David Ortiz and John Farrell were both tossed from the game on a pair of borderline pitches called for strikes. Andrew Miller thought they were strikes and that the ump did a good job. Case closed!
