Around the Empire
New York Post | George A. King III: Alex Rodriguez has been placed on the 15-day DL. With him beginning to hit the ball much better, it's a considerable blow. However, he also told the team that there's no reason they can't score five runs a game. The Yankees won 7-0 last night. What a coach.
New York Daily News | Amara Grautski: Yankee SS legend and Players' Tribune founder Derek Jeter was on Late Night with Seth Meyers last night. He discussed why he started it, his new books coming out, and almost slipped up and said something about some year that didn't actually happen. Also, please don't yell at him in a restaurant.
Wall St. Journal | Jared Diamond: Here are some more helpful tips for the Yankees to get back to their winning ways. Yes, it also involves benching Chase Headley in favor of Ronald Torreyes. Perhaps an extra base hit would help this idea from being suggested in the near future.
Newsday | Eric Boland: Joe Girardi was not pleased that the Orioles grounds crew put the tarp on the field right before the Yankees could have their batting practice. It was also right after the Orioles had their practice. Buck Showalter was not pleased with Girardi's insinuations.
Fun Questions
- Pinstripe Alley twitter was in full puppy mode last night. In honor of that, name your top three breed of dogs.
- Create a Ben & Jerry flavor of ice cream for a Yankee player or coach of your choosing.
Song of the Day
Every Morning by Sugar Ray
It's Nostalgia Week on Pinstripe Alley. Remember 1999, when the Yankees were good? This song was one of the top ten songs of that year. (One of our newest writers was only one year old at that point in time, which is just so cool. Soooo cool.) As always, please link us your song of the day.
