Around the Empire
NJ.com | Brendan Kuty: During his earlier call-ups, Rob Refsnyder had no chance of sticking with the team. With Dustin Ackley's injury likely causing him to miss a significant amount of time, if Refsnyder picked up a first baseman's glove and learned to use it he has a chance of sticking around. (Maybe they'll allow him to take his catcher's mask from third base to first.)
CBS | Jason Keidel: While the Yankees have been largely mediocre this season, a good May and a favorable upcoming schedule gives the Yankees six weeks to put things together. Talk of selling at the deadline may be premature if the team can take advantage of a stretch where of the seven teams they play, only one (the Orioles) has a winning record.
New York Times | Billy Witz: The Yankees are still searching for answers about why their offense is struggling out of the gate. They seem to be doing all the right things during warm-ups and they're not striking out a lot (third fewest in the league) but they just can't get it going.
NJ.com | Brendan Kuty: With the 2016 MLB Draft right around the corner, it's anybody's guess as to who the Yankees will select with the 18th pick in the first round. However, with it being a pitching heavy draft and having taken pitchers with their top picks the last two years, the Yankees could be looking at taking in a college bat with their top pick.
ESPN | Andrew Marchand: After activating him from the disabled list and demoting him to Triple-A, Joe Girardi still has confidence in Luis Severino's ability to be a major league pitcher. Girardi says it's not crazy for a struggling rookie to be sent down to "figure it out" and even compared Severino's situation to that of a young Roy Halladay. Song of the Day
May It Be by Enya
It's Swords and Sorcery Week on Pinstripe Alley. Today's song comes from the first Lord of the Rings movie, Fellowship of the Ring, and was nominated for an Oscar that year. The video above is a cool little "tribute" video which plays the song over clips from the movie and now I feel like a Lord of the Rings marathon is in order. As always, please link us your song of the day.
