Around the Empire
Newsday | Erik Boland: Dustin Ackley had to come out of yesterday's game due to injuring his right shoulder during his dive back to first base. Mark Teixeira replaced him at first, even though he wasn't expected to play again until Monday. An MRI will reveal if Ackley is heading for the DL. Given the way this season has gone, it's safe to assume he is. Here's hoping that Teixeira is feeling alright. If he could start hitting as well, that would be great.
New York Daily News | Mark Feinsand: In bad pitching news, Michael Pineda currently has the league's worst ERA. He is going to start for the Yankees on Thursday against the Tigers. The Yankees do not have many options other than Chad Green or Luis Cessa. Perhaps a new month will help Pineda out. Perhaps.
New York Post | Kevin Kernan: In good pitching news, Nathan Eovaldi has continued to emerge as one of Brian Cashman's best trade acquisitions. With Larry Rothschild's help, Eovaldi has been extremely reliable on the mound. Rothschild's method of teaching Eovaldi how to throw a splitter has worked wonders for the young starter. Perhaps the Yankees should consider extending him. Perhaps. Seriously though, get it done Cash.
Florida Today | Michael Parsons: In encouraging pitching news, Luis Severino felt good after his first rehab start in Tampa yesterday. He still has some work to do, but it's good to know that he seems healthy. Good luck, Sevy.
Fun Questions
- Do you have any stories you'd like to share for Memorial Day? If so, please do.
- Regardless of the outcome, which do you think was a worse managerial decision in last night's Dodgers/Mets game; Dave Roberts removing Clayton Kershaw and not bringing in Kenley Jansen or Terry Collins not taking out Jeurys Familia when he clearly had no control?
Song Of The Day
The Bard's Song (The Hobbit) by Blind Guardian
It's Swords and Sorcery Week on Pinstripe Alley. Today's song is pretty much a continuation of yesterday's song. Both songs are awesome. As always, please link us your song of the day.
