The suddenly hot Yankees took the first of a three-game set against their AL East division rivals in St. Petersburg on Friday night. Masahiro Tanaka looked every bit as good as advertised as the Yankees were able to pounce on the typically great Chris Archer as Alex Rodriguez and Carlos Beltran both hit homers in the 4-1 victory, the Yankees' seventh in their last nine games.
New York will look for a series victory on Saturday at the Trop, but to do it they will likely need Michael Pineda to deviate from the usual. Pineda, who has posted a 6.34 ERA to this point of the season, will need to bring his best stuff to quell the bats of the Rays who will trot Matt Moore out to oppose. Moore, too, has been somewhat inconsistent this year as he has a 5.47 ERA entering this Saturday afternoon affair.
So as Memorial Day Weekend goes into full swing, sit back, relax and watch some Yankees baseball today.
