Around the Empire

New York Daily News | Daniel Popper: After a brief couple of days in Double-A Trenton, Alex Rodriguez is scheduled to rejoin the Yankees for today's game against the Blue Jays. In his last at bat for the Trenton Thunder, A-Rod launched a bomb over the center field wall. Here's hoping he brings that power back to the Bronx with him.

LoHud | Chad Jennings: Gary Sanchez joins the list of young Yankee prospects to get injured, also known as the saddest list of all. Sanchez with hit with a foul tip and X-Rays revealed a non-displaced fracture in his thumb. He will be placed on the DL and re-evaluated in two weeks. Sigh.

MLB Trade Rumors | Jeff Todd: The Yankees have climbed their way out of the bottom of the AL East this month, but their future is still in question. Whether they are in the hunt or not, the Yankees might have some trade chips for another contending team. Carlos Beltran could be one of those chips. While he does have a no-trade clause, it is limited. There are still a good number of teams he could be traded to. The trade deadline is going to be interesting.

New York Post | Dan Martin: Mark Teixeira is once again having trouble with his neck. He was benched for yesterday's game and odds are he will not be playing this afternoon. He will be further evaluated today. Of course, he has not been placed on the DL because why would the Yankees do that?

YES Network | A.J. Herrmann: Derek Jeter is still interested in owning a baseball team in the near future. He's also interested in getting more youth participation back into the game. This may come as a shock, but Jeter seems to really like this sport.
