The Yankees will close out their ten game home stand with the series finale against the White Sox this afternoon. A win today would be their seventh in the past ten games, and would allow them to continue to make headway in their quest back to .500.
New York has just the man they want on the mound in Masahiro Tanaka. Tanaka was victimized by the long ball in his last start, giving up three homers en route to a six run, seven inning outing versus the Royals. Still, even with that black mark on his ledger, he has been the Yankees' best pitcher so far.
Having survived Chicago's top starters, Chris Sale and Jose Quintana, the Yankees will get a bit of a respite in facing Miguel Gonzalez. Gonzalez has pitched just 11 innings this season, allowing six runs. The Yankees are quite familiar with Gonzalez, whom they faced frequently during his time with the Orioles. Gonzalez has a 4.03 ERA in 73.2 innings against the Yankees.
The game begins at 1:05 EST on WPIX and the MLB Network. Let's hope for another series victory.
