Being invested in prospects is one of the worst things you can do to yourself as a baseball fan. They'll break your heart more often than not. You wait for what feels like an eternity for the payoff that may or may not ever come. No matter how many times we are disappointed, though, we also find ourselves right back to being invested in the next kid to come along.
Man, when it does pay off, though? It's great.
Gary Sanchez makes his first start in the big leagues tonight, and it feels like we've been waiting quite a while for this moment to come. He has a tough task ahead of him in Chris Sale, but hopefully it is just the first of many hurdles for him as a big leaguer. Sanchez is getting thrown directly into the fire, so to speak, but for those of us who have been invested in nearly his every move for years, it feels pretty good.
